How tough is it to get in? Do most students graduate on time? How many students are there per class? These are just a few of the questions college ranking agencies ask when assessing which schools belong on the “best of” list and which ones don’t. Other factors agencies may consider include financial resources, program offerings, peer assessment, and student selectivity. Some facts and figures may have more influence than others, which helps assign a final score to each school, and where they will land on the list. For example, an animation program with small class sizes may have more influence than one with larger classes, or a 50 percent on-time graduation rate will have less influence than a 75 percent on-time graduation rate.

Because the country has seen an increase in the overall population if animators, many schools have either created animation programs or revamped existing ones. This has been the case in Indiana where, although the population of animators hasn’t increased, salaries are on the rise. In addition, just across the bridge in Chicago, the animation production scene is heating up—again. This has given the Indiana film office (FILM Indiana) the opportunity to catch the overflow.
