Degrees Offered: B. F. A. Art with Digital Arts or Graphic Design Concentration, M. F. A. Digital Arts

Tuition Information:  Undergraduate residents $8,614, nonresidents $15,922; graduate residents $10,168, nonresidents $17,476 for the 2011 – 2012 school year.  Tuition does not include undergraduate fees of $1,298 or graduate fees of $1,414.

Scope of Program:

All students in Bowling Green State University's Art program complete core courses in drawing, media and design studios before taking courses in their chosen concentrations.  Digital Arts students may choose to focus on Computer Animation, Imaging or Interactive Multimedia.  Computer Animation students concentrate on animation principles and techniques, 3D modeling, 3D digital animation, digital character animation and artistic animation effects.  Imaging students complete coursework in photography, 3D modeling and rendering, alternative digital printing and computer art production.  Interactive multimedia students focus on interactive art, collaborative multimedia development and physical computing.  All students must pass a sophomore year portfolio review and create a senior thesis.
Graphic Design students complete coursework in typography, 3D graphic design, interactive graphic design, history of graphic design, graphic design theory and senior studio.  All students must pass a sophomore year portfolio review and create a senior thesis.

Digital Arts students in Bowling Green State University's Master of Fine Arts program may focus on 3D Animation, Interactive Multimedia or 2D Imaging.  3D Animation students concentrate on particle systems and dynamics, scripting, compositing, rendering and modeling.  Interactive Multimedia students complete courses in web art, interactive digital installation art, virtual reality and game design.  2D Imaging students take courses in video art, digital painting and installation art.  All students complete coursework in studio critiques, art history and exhibition research prior to creating an M. F. A. exhibition.

A portfolio is required with the application to the B. F. A. and M. F. A. programs.  Talent scholarships, need-based scholarships and merit scholarships are available, as are graduate assistantships.  Ohio residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
