Scope of Program:

Students choosing the Visual Communication Specialty in Francis Marion University's Visual Arts program begin their studies with foundation coursework in drawing, 2D and 3D design, figure drawing and art history.  After passing a sophomore portfolio review, they continue with courses in studio art, layout and graphics, typography, interactive communication, print and electronic publication design and image analysis and media production.  All students complete a senior seminar and create a senior exhibition.

Visual Arts scholarships are available; students must submit a portfolio with the scholarship application.  All students must complete a foreign language requirement.  Merit and need-based scholarships are available.  South Carolina residents are encouraged to apply for state grants and scholarships.
