Employment and Salary Trends for Indiana Informatics

Indiana is home to thousands of computer systems analysts (CSAs), and many are informatics specialists. In 2010, the state was home to 7,770 CSAs down only slightly from 2002, when the state was home to 7,850. While the population of salaried CSAs decreased slightly, salaries increased significantly. In 2002, Indiana CSAs earned $57,980. Today, they earned $71,090.

Nationwide, there are more than 530,000 salaried computer systems analysts. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 20 percent increase in the population between 2008 and 2018, when the talent pool is expected to reach 640,300. According to the 2010-2011 Occupational Outlook Handbook, median annual wages of CSAs nationwide are $75,500. The lowest paid CSAs earned less than $45,390, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $118,440. The middle 50 percent earned between $58,460 and $95,810. Design and related services employs the second largest number of specialists and they earn an average salary of $78,680 per year.
