Each student at The Digital Animation & Visual Effects School (DAVE School at Universal Studios Orlando) learns how to work at a studio by spending 12 weeks as a Production Artist on a school-produced film. Degrees Offered: B. F. A. Communication Design, Studio Art with Concentration in Digital Media

Tuition Information:  Undergraduate residents $6,240, nonresidents $15,600 for the 2011 – 2012 school year.  Tuition does not include resident fees of $1,060 or nonresident fees of $1,149 per year.

Scope of Program:

Communications Design students at Kutztown University may choose the Advertising Design, Graphic Design, Illustration or Interactive Design concentration.  Students begin their studies with core courses in drawing, 2D and 3D design, art history and digital design, then continue with coursework in typography, layout, visual thinking, photography, graphic design history, illustration, animation, vector and raster graphics, restaurant graphics, campus graphics, computer illustration, 3D animation, digital translation, digital motion graphics and CD workshop.  All students complete a senior seminar and create a portfolio.

Digital Media students in the Studio Art program complete core coursework in drawing, 2D and 3D design, painting, printmaking, life drawing, photography, sculpture and digital media.  They then concentrate on business of art, art history, digital animation, digital media studio, video art and motion graphics, film and video as art, digital sculpture and web-based and interactive art.  All students create a senior exhibition.

Communications Design students must pass an art test in order to be admitted to the major.  A portfolio is required with the application to the Studio Art program.  Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available.  Pennsylvania residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
