Scope of Program:

Freshmen in Lander University's Visual Arts program must complete foundation courses in drawing, 2D design and 3D design and pass a freshman portfolio review. Graphic Design students focus on photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, advanced drawing, typography, layout, computer art graphics, advertising design and self-promotion, computer graphic design software and applications, corporate identity design and art history. All students complete a senior design studio and create a capstone project and digital portfolio.

All Visual Arts students must satisfy Lander University's foreign language requirement. Graphic Design students must purchase a laptop computer. Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available; students must submit a portfolio to be considered for art scholarships. Lab fees of $25 to $60 may apply for some art courses. South Carolina residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
