Scope of Program:

Art students at Mount Ida College complete an Art Foundations core prior to beginning their major studies.  Core courses include drawing, art history, figure drawing, color theory and 2D and 3D design.  Game Art and Animation students continue their studies with coursework in game history, concept art, animation principles, game development, special effects, 3D animation, rigging, concept art and level design.  Students complete an internship and create a capstone project and exhibition.  Graphic Design students focus on typography, web design, publication design, computer imaging, branding and identity systems and digital media. Students complete an internship and create a portfolio.

Game Art and Animation majors must purchase a laptop computer at the beginning of sophomore year.  Graphic Design students must purchase a MacBook Pro laptop computer at the beginning of their second year of study and pass a portfolio review at the end of that year.

Need-based and merit scholarships are available.  Design students may compete for School of Design Art Awards; applicants must submit a portfolio to be considered.
