Scope of Program:

All students at Pacific Northwest College of Art complete the Foundations program, which includes coursework in 2D and 3D design, digital tools, drawing and time arts.  Animated Arts students continue with coursework in art history, sound, video, narrative strategies, history of moving image, animation aesthetics, professional practices and advanced animated arts studio.  All students create a thesis project and B. F. A. exhibition.

Communication Design students focus on typography, art history, design studio, history of design, interactive media, motion graphics, marketing and branding, interface and structure and communication design practicum.  Students participate in Center4Design, an on-campus design studio where students work for real-world clients.  All students create a thesis project and B. F. A. exhibition.

Illustration students concentrate on illustration studio, drawing for illustration, painting, digital illustration, art history, narrative image, advanced illustration and professional practices.  All students create a thesis project and B. F. A. exhibition.
A portfolio is required with the application to the B. F. A. program.  Art scholarships and need-based grants are available.
