Tuition Information: Undergraduate residents $4,488, nonresidents $12,912 for the 2012 – 2013 school year. Tuition does not include fees of $2,120 per year.

Scope of Program:

All art students at Sam Houston State University begin their studies with foundation courses in 2D and 3D art studio and history, drawing, life drawing, art history, digital art and an introductory course in their chosen concentration. Students must pass a B. F. A. review after completing these foundation courses to continue in the program. Advertising and Graphic Design students focus on typography, layout, painting, printmaking, illustration, graphic design in context, problems in graphic design and corporate identity design. All students complete a senior studio and internship and create a portfolio and senior exhibition.

Computer Animation students concentrate on animation concepts, 2D and 3D animation, typography, advanced 3D computer animation, 3D modeling, character animation, history of animation, visual programming, motion graphics and studio arts. All students create a portfolio.

Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available, as are border county and state tuition waivers. Texas residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
