Scope of Program:

San Francisco Art Institute's four interdisciplinary study centers offer students the opportunity to work across media and cultures, integrating academics with studio arts.  Design and Technology students concentrate on critical theory, contemporary practice, distribution, art history and design and technology electives.  Technology track students also study text and animation, 3D modeling and digital sound objects.  Design and Technology students may work with San Francisco's Exploratorium.

New Genres students focus on contemporary practice, issues and contemporary artists, installation and distribution art history and video/distribution.

Visiting artists and scholars give students at the San Francisco Art Institute the opportunity to meet and learn from working professionals.  Travel programs and internships offer students work experience and expanded perspective.  A portfolio is required as part of the application process.  Academic merit and portfolio achievement scholarships are available.
