The Magnolia State is home to so many colleges and universities, you’ll lose count.
What’s even better than having access to so many schools is having your choice of some of the nation’s top schools! Mississippi’s top schools earned a spot on the list based on a number of factors ranging from cost to quality of facilities. These same schools also found their way onto many “best schools” lists based on other factors ranging from graduation and retention rates to student selectivity.

Mississippi has a number of major cities including Jackson (the largest), Gulfport, Southaven, Hattiesburg, and Biloxi—to name a few. While Jackson is the state’s art and culture center, several smaller cities are popular among artists and designers. These smaller cities are also home to several top schools that offer programs for artists and designers. Just a few include Delta State University (Cleveland), Mississippi College (Clinton), and Mississippi University for Women (Columbus).
