Texas is home to one of the largest collections of colleges in the U.S. At 252 Title IV schools, and counting, Texas has the fourth largest collection of colleges in the country. In addition, Texas has a large number of top schools, and many of them offer graphic design programs. Just a few of the state’s top-rated colleges include Baylor University, Rice University, Texas A&M, Southern Methodist University, University of Texas at Austin, Texas Tech, and University of Texas at Dallas.

In addition to scoring high in areas such as quality of job placement services, variety of programs, types of clubs and organizations, class sizes, cost, and convenience, the state’s Title IV schools have met five requirements established by the U.S. Department of Education. If a school does not meet these requirements, it cannot claim Title IV status. This status easily separates the top schools from the rest.

To earn Title IV status a school must (1) have accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, (2) be in business for at least 2 years, (3) sign a participation agreement with the Department, (4) grant an associate's degree or higher, and (5) offer a program of at least 300 clock hours in length. Schools with Title IV status are eligible for federal financial aid programs, making them more accessible to students with financial need.
