Scope of Program:
Graphic Design students at Tusculum College complete the Art and Design Core, which includes courses in drawing, design, art history and service learning in the arts, before applying to the major.  Students select their area of concentration after their first year of study.  Graphic Design students focus on typography, layout, computer-based graphic design, web design, publication design and studio arts.  All students create a senior portfolio and exhibition.

Digital Media students must complete an introductory class in digital media before applying to the major.  Accepted students concentrate on media production, multi-camera and single-camera production, digital video editing, writing for media, web design, photography, graphic design and editing and compositing.  All students complete a beginning and advanced production practicum and create a capstone project.

Tusculum College uses the Block System; each semester includes four blocks.  A block is one class, taught for 18 days, three hours or more per day.  Students complete one block at a time.  All students must complete a service learning requirement.  Digital Media students must purchase an Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer.  Printer ink fees may be charged for Graphic Design courses.  Merit and need-based scholarships are available.  Tennessee residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
