Scope of Program:

Digital Media students at Union University must choose an emphasis in Art, Communication Arts or Computer Science. All students complete coursework in computer science, digital imaging, digital media programming, digital storytelling, web applications, interactive media, web building and site management, graphic design and visual language. Art Emphasis students focus on design, drawing, 3D design, photography and typography; all students complete a practicum.

Communication Arts Emphasis students concentrate on writing across media platforms, public relations, marketing, commercial law and advertising. Computer Science Emphasis students take courses in C and Java programming, computer graphics, computer maintenance and repair and operating systems. All students complete an internship.

Graphic Design students complete core art courses in drawing, figure drawing, 2D and 3D design, digital media and visual arts. All students must pass a portfolio review after completing 12 credit hours in art. Students then focus on typography, visual language, layout, photography, identity systems and motion graphics. Students must pass a mid-program review. All students complete a senior seminar and create a portfolio and senior exhibition.

Union University is affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention. Merit and need-based scholarships are available. Tennessee Baptist Convention tuition discount grants are available, as are Tennessee Baptist Convention awards. Tuition waivers are available for qualified missionary, ministers' and Christian educators' dependents. Tennessee residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
