Scope of Program:

University of Massachusetts Lowell offers several emphases within its Design concentration.  All students complete foundation coursework in drawing, form and content, digital foundations and art concepts.  In addition, all students must complete an internship and a course in aesthetics and critical studies and create a senior exhibition.

Animation students focus on 2D and 3D animation, digital imaging, photography, 3D modeling and the language of video.  Graphic Design students concentrate on typography, advertising design, digital imaging, graphic communications and presentation skills.  Interactive Media students complete coursework in computer art, interactive media, streaming media and sonic arts.  Web Design students take courses in web art and design, Java, Flash, ActionScript, industry best practices and streaming media.

Need-based grants and scholarships are available.  A limited number of merit-based tuition (only) waivers are also available for Massachusetts residents.  University of Massachusetts Lowell accepts the Common Application.  Massachusetts residents are encouraged to apply for state scholarships and grants.  Students whose home town is in New Hampshire and within 20 miles of the campus are eligible for reduced tuition rates.
