Scope of Program:

All B. F. A. candidates at the University of Southern Mississippi must complete Foundations courses in drawing, 2D and 3D design and art history before applying to the major. Students must submit a portfolio of their Foundations work with their application. Upon acceptance to the Graphic Design program, students concentrate on design theory, type design, information design, digital visualization, interactive design, poster design and professional practices. All students must complete a senior project.

Graphic Design students at the University of Southern Mississippi must purchase an Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer. Academic merit, leadership and need-based scholarships are available. To compete for art scholarships, students must present a portfolio at the annual Spring Open House. Mississippi residents are encouraged to apply for state grants and scholarships.
