Degrees Offered: B. F. A. Studio Art with Graphic Design and Photography and Media Art Concentrations

Tuition Information: Undergraduate residents $7,398, nonresidents $20,932 for the 2011 – 2012 school year.  Tuition does not include fees of $1,320 per year.

Scope of Program:

Studio Art students at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga complete an art foundations sequence that includes coursework in 2D form, 3D form, color/fundamentals and drawing.  They must then pass a portfolio review to continue in the major.  Graphic Design students concentrate on typography, visual literacy for graphic design, photography, processes and materials for graphic design, graphic design history, web media, graphic design workshop and professional practices.  All students create a senior exhibition.

Photography and Media Art students focus on black and white and color photography, video and sound for moving image, expanded media art, web and book for artists, interdisciplinary research and photography and media art concepts, production and installation.  All students create a senior exhibition.

Art lab fees may apply.  Merit and need-based scholarships are available, as are regional tuition grants.  Tennessee residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
