Degrees Offered: B. F. A. Studio Art Option with Graphic Design Emphasis

Tuition Information:  Undergraduate residents $5,640, nonresidents $18,050 for the 2011 – 2012 school year.  Tuition does not include fees of $1,064 per year.

Scope of Program:

Graphic Design students at the University of Tennessee at Martin complete core courses in art history, understanding dance and theatre, aesthetics and art theory and criticism.  Students must pass a portfolio review to be admitted to the major.  They continue with coursework in 2D and 3D design, color, drawing, graphic design applications, digital photography, typography and layout, advertising design, interactive multimedia, electronic imagery and professional practices.  All students must pass a senior portfolio review, complete an internship and create a senior thesis exhibition.  All Graphic Design students must attend art exhibitions each year.

A portfolio is required with the application to the B. F. A. program.  Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available.  Residents of Fulton, Graves and Hickman Counties in Kentucky are eligible for in-state tuition rates.  The University of Tennessee at Martin offers out of state tuition waivers for applicants with ACT scores of 25 or greater and 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point averages.  Residents of Tennessee are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
