Tuition Information:  Undergraduate residents $4,406, nonresidents $12,774 for the 2012 – 2013 school year.  Tuition does not include resident fees of $2,684 or nonresident fees of $3,214 per year.

Scope of Program:

Applicants to the B. F. A. program must complete foundation courses in drawing, 2D design, art appreciation, color theory, computers for artists, life drawing and perspective drawing and pass a portfolio review in order to be admitted to the major.  Animation students concentrate on 3D design, electronic animation, art history, sound for animation, special effects, animation team projects and experimental animation.  All students complete a senior animation studio and create a demo reel and portfolio.  Graphic Design students focus on typography, graphic design history, art history, illustration, package design, publication design, advertising design and graphic design principles and skills.  All students complete an internship and create a senior thesis project.

Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available.  Residents of Virginia are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
