The quantity of jobs does not necessarily translate to the best wages though. The states with the highest median wages are:

District of Columbia: $31.09/hr and $64,670 annually. (DC, who knew?)
New York: $26.11/hr and $54,310 annually.
California: $25.19/hr and $52,400 annually.
Connecticut: $24.64/hr and $51,260 annually.
Maryland: $24.17/hr and $50,280 annually.

The worst place for Graphic Designers? Wyoming. Few jobs and low pay for the ones that exist.
