Because Wisconsin has a strong film and video industry as well as a variety of animation and design studios in principle cities, aspiring film and video animators find that cities such as Milwaukee and Madison are great places to start a career. In addition to a stable film and video industry Wisconsin offers:

  • Many primary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions with multi-media art and animation programs
  • More than 1,000 computer design and information technology firms that are always searching for talented animators with a computer science background
  • A variety of advertising and design firms with animation needs
  • 77 colleges and universities and 2,305 elementary and secondary schools, offering plenty of opportunities for animation instructors

Many Wisconsin colleges and universities offer art and animation programs accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). A large number of Wisconsin community colleges such as Madison Area Technical Community College (MATC) and Madison Media Institute also offer animation certificates, enrichment courses, or other non-degree animation programs.
