Although Ohio’s 215 Title IV schools are eligible for federal financial aid programs, tuition rates are very reasonable compared to other states across the U.S. If you are a resident and attend a state-supported school, you can expect to pay as little as $3,500 per year. To be considered a resident of the state of Ohio, you must reside within its borders for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. Resident status could make the difference between paying $9,870 per year or $18,834 (Ohio University).

Ohio is the nation’s seventh largest state. Thanks to a population of more than 11.5 million, Ohio’s sizable collection of colleges is the sixth largest in the U.S. The state’s 215 Title IV degree-granting institutions vary from art schools to technical colleges to traditional universities. Although they are different in many ways, Ohio’s Title IV schools have several things in common. They have (1) accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, (2) offer a program of at least 300 clock hours in length, (3) have signed a participation agreement with the Department, (4) grant an associate's degree or higher, and (5) they have been in business for at least 2 years. All Title IV schools must meet these mandatory requirements in order to qualify for Title IV financial aid programs. The requirements listed were set forth by the U.S. Department of Education.
