Profiles of Schools/Colleges in Minnesota (MN) Offering Animation, Design, Gaming, and Media Related Programs

The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota features many multimedia producers and numerous telecommunications companies, as well as hundreds of other media-friendly businesses.  Minneapolis experiences an ongoing demand for local artists seeking jobs as audio-visual editors.  After all, multimedia design is the world's fastest-growing visual arts profession, and virtually all multimedia productions require editing.

Minnesota is home to more than 110 Title IV degree-granting institutions. The state is home to even more accredited colleges, but not all accredited colleges have Title IV status. To become a Title IV school, the college or university must meet five strict requirements. They must (1) grant an associate's degree or higher, (2) have accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, (3) sign a participation agreement with the Department, (4) offer a program of at least 300 clock hours in length, and (5) be in business for at least 2 years. Title IV status means these schools are eligible for Title IV federal financial aid programs, making them more accessible to students with financial needs.

Although the schools that make the list of “best schools” and “top schools” are all exceptional, different groups evaluate each type of school for inclusion in different ways. To determine which schools are the best, organizations such as Princeton Review and Forbes consider factors such as variety of program offerings, graduation and retention rates, peer assessment, faculty resources, financial resources, and student selectivity.
