Florida has a lot to offer animators. Where else can you find a giant water screen that pumps 2,400 gallons of water into the air per minute—all for Disney-MGM’s animated productions? While the population of animators here has declined since 2002, animation studios, both big and small, are still popping up everywhere. One of the newest, Digital  Domain, plans to build a $40 million, 120,000 square foot studio in Port St. Lucie.

Animation Careers in Florida

Overview - The state of Florida is home to Universal Studios Resort—one of the largest entertainment resorts in the U.S. This world famous resort is home to Universal Studios and the prestigious Dave School of Digital Animation & Visual Effects. Dave School is a 35,000 square foot facility located on the backlot of Universal Studios, with a staff that consists of former Disney animators and other renowned visual effects supervisors. Dave School alumni work (or have worked) in top studios around the country such as DreamWorks, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Activision, Sony Imageworks, and Digital Domain. Their work can be seen in blockbusters such as Avatar, Beowulf, Battlestar Galactica, and The Expendables.
