Do they offer access to financial aid programs? Are they selective? Are the classes small? A number of organizations such as Princeton Review, U.S. News & World Report, and Forbes ask these questions and more when deciding which schools belong on the “best schools” list. Other considerations include peer assessment, and graduation and retention rates. A number of Indiana schools scored high in all areas, earning them a spot on the list of Best Schools (2012).
According to the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Indiana is now home to 109 accredited colleges and universities. While many are on the list of best schools, not all offer programs for game designers & developers. One school, however, offers a top-tier program for designers & developers. Indiana University Kokomois part of the Indiana University system. Indiana University was established in 1820 in Bloomington, but the Kokomo campus was not established until 1945 as an extension center. Between 1945 and 1947, the school evolved into what it is today—one of the best and largest universities in the state of Indiana.
Indiana University is located in the small town of Kokomo on a 51-acre campus. It offers certificate programs as well as associate, bachelors, and master’s degrees. The admissions process is considered difficult, but once you’re in, students can reap all the benefits of attending a “best” school. As of 2010, Indiana University Kokomo (IU Kokomo) had a student body of 2,978 students. Tuition for undergraduate residents was $4,530 for the 2010-2011 school year and $11,943 nonresidents.
Indiana University Kokomo offers a wide variety of degrees for aspiring digital artists, designers, and other aspiring creatives. This is one of the reasons IU Kokomo made the list of “best” schools. Degrees offered include a B. A. and B. S. in New Media Communication with a Concentration in Video Game Design, Graphic Design, Digital Development, or Web Design and Generalist (Individual Concentration/Concentration Designed by the Student).
