Scope of Program:
Boise State University requires all B. F. A. candidates to complete foundation courses in art history, drawing, photography, art foundations and 3D art. Graphic Design students concentrate on photography, illustration, graphic design studio, new media design, printmaking and professional practices. Internships are optional. Proficiency in a modern language is required. Illustration students focus on digital tools, painting, photography, 3D studio, drawing, portfolio development and professional practices. Students complete a senior project.
Scholarships are available, including art department scholarships, which require submission of a portfolio, and Capital Scholarships for Idaho state residents. Merit-based nonresident tuition assistance (GEM) is available. Boise State University participates in the Western Undergraduate Exchange Tuition Waiver Program, which is open to students from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
