Scope of Program:
Bradley University offers a variety of degree program options to its undergraduate and master's degree students. Students wishing to major in Art with Concentration in Graphic Design may opt for a B. A., B. S. or B. F. A. program; B. F. A. students must present a senior exhibition in order to graduate. All Graphic Design students take coursework in drawing, 2D design, 3D design, life drawing, multimedia, art history, typography, editorial design and corporate standards and branding. Students complete a senior project and create a portfolio. Students in the undergraduate Interactive Media program may choose from the Animation and Visual Effects, Game Design and Web and Application Design concentrations. All Interactive Media undergraduates take core courses in 2D design, intermedia, typographic design, interactive media authoring, new media, intellectual property for new media, and web design. Students then specialize in their concentration areas, with Animation and Visual Effects students focusing on concepting, storytelling, digital animation and sound design, Game Design students taking courses in computer graphics, game engine programming, computer game design and concepting and storytelling, and Web and Application Design students concentrating on search engine optimization, analytics, virtual world building and storytelling.
Master's degree candidates may choose between a 30 credit hour M. A. and a 60 credit hour M. F. A. program. Students must make an oral and visual presentation to faculty after completing between nine and 18 credit hours of study in order to be accepted to the program. Participation in the biennial graduate exhibition is required, as are comprehensive examinations and a thesis exhibition.
Bradley University accepts both the Common Application and the Universal College Application. A portfolio is required for admission to the M. A. and M. F. A. programs. Art talent scholarships are available, as are graduate-level assistantships and fellowships.
