At Full Sail University, students can earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in entertainment, media, and emerging technologies in 29 months or less. The fast, focused programs teach industry-relevant skills through hands-on coursework, and campus students have access to real-world facilities and tools that mimic professional environments. Those unique classroom settings, plus a variety of opportunities for connection and networking, help students develop professional qualities they can use after graduation.
Full Sail’s campus boasts more than 110 studios and labs where students can explore the tools and skills needed to work in their chosen industry. Here are a few examples of the facilities students can use on campus.
Digital Arts Centers
Motion Capture Stage: Students pursuing an education in computer animation get hands-on experience in this space, learning how to capture live motion for their animation projects. This facility houses a set of cameras known as a passive optical system, made up of 16 large Vicon cameras that can view 16 megapixels. The system is set up along the perimeter of the room, with the cameras aimed at a soundstage so they can record the physical movements of a person or object. This data is later transferred onto 3D characters.
3D Arts Center: Here, students pursuing art and design degrees can work on individual projects or collaborate with classmates using industry-standard software at digital workstations.
Traditional Art Studio: Students can work on foundational art skills like color theory and composition in this space.
The Hub: Works of digital art created by students are displayed here.
Emerging Technology Labs
Simulation Lab: Students can use this space to explore and create their own simulations. Technology like a motion platform, projection mapping tools, and a fiber-optic network have helped students create projects like Millennium Falcon and space shuttle landing simulators.
Fabrication Lab: In this workshop space, students can use 3D printers, laser scanners, milling machines, and power tools to make custom components for their class projects.
VR/AR Lab: Students develop applications for VR and AR hardware in this lab, which has VR headsets, green screens, and more.
User Experience Lab: In the UX Lab, tech that measures changes in human physiology (like face and eye movements and sweat production) helps students measure how people are responding to their interactions with technology.
Smart Lab: Learning to develop apps for smart technology, like household appliances, smartwatches, TVs, and more is a snap in this dedicated space.
Fitness Technology Lab Powered by Echelon Fit: In this lab, students can participate in research initiatives for enhancing Echelon equipment and help develop and implement new features for Echelon’s product lines.
Full Sail University Healthcare Technology Lab Powered by AdventHealth University: Teams at Full Sail and AdventHealth University can develop innovative solutions for training nurses, enhancing patient safety, and more in this lab.
Film & Recording Facilities
Studio V1: Virtual Production: Full Sail invested more than $3 million in this state-of-the-art studio, where live-action footage is filmed in front of immersive digital sets created in a video game engine. Students can help create sets for class projects and potentially help out with professional productions that come to the studio.
Audio Temple: The Audio Temple is a classroom and recording studio where students can put the finishing touches on their recording projects. Industry professionals also use the space for recording, mixing, mastering, and more: Full Sail Hall of Fame graduate and Grammy-winning mix engineer Leslie Brathwaite mixed tracks from Ariana Grande's Sweetener album in the Audio Temple, and folk artist Aoife O’Donovan recorded, mixed, and produced her Grammy-nominated album Age of Apathy in the studio.
Dub Stage: In this professionally designed post-production facility, students can work with instructors to mix a film’s audio into its final cut. The room is Dolby-calibrated and has an Avid console, Pro Tools HD systems, theater seats for private film screenings, and a theater-caliber surround sound system.
Event Spaces
Full Sail Live: The Full Sail Live venue has hosted a variety of events over the years, like concerts, wrestling matches, and more. Students can gain hands-on production experience using tools like lighting and laser systems and audio equipment during those events.
Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress: The Fortress is the largest collegiate esports arena in the United States. It’s home to Full Sail’s esports team, Armada, and hosts casual campus game events, collegiate tournaments, and other events beyond esports.
Full Sail offers its students opportunities to connect personally and professionally through student clubs and networking opportunities. Here are some examples.
Student Clubs
Student Community Association: This organization serves as a liaison for all clubs and extracurricular activities at Full Sail. It embraces the school’s diverse and inclusive community with events like open mic nights, block parties, and meet and greets.
PRIDE Club: This group offers a safe space for LGBTQ+ students and allies, with events like queer movie nights, networking summits, game nights, and more.
Black Student Union: The BSU aims to motivate and educate through forums, presentations, programs, and occasional guest speakers; it also hosts relaxing events like game and karaoke nights and ice cream socials.
Veteran Student Union: This club provides support for students transitioning to full-time student life after serving in the military. It’s based in the Military Student Center, where veterans and military family members can relax, socialize, and learn more about veteran benefits at Full Sail.
