Scope of Program:
Students in the Graphic Design program at The Cooper Union complete art foundation courses in color, 2D, 3D and 4D design, drawing, art history and modern to contemporary art. Students complete a foundation project before progressing to Graphic Design coursework. Graphic Design students focus on typography, information design, publication design, visual identity, experimental typography, interactive design, computational media and motion graphics. Students create a senior presentation.
A portfolio is required for application to the B. F. A. program. Students must also complete the "home test," which consists of several visual projects that must be done at home and submitted to The Cooper Union. Every student accepted receives a full tuition scholarship; students must still pay for room, board, books, supplies, fees and insurance.
