Scope of Program:
Drury University offers a traditional bachelor's degree program in Design Arts and an optional special program in Visual Communication within the Design Arts major. Design Arts majors take core courses in studio design, drawing, photography and graphic design, then continue with coursework in art history, digital photography, multimedia production, publication design, poster design and web communication. All seniors complete the Apex Studio course, during which they create and present a senior exhibition. In addition to these courses, Visual Communication students focus on concept design, behavioral science, advertising and public relations, persuasive communication and commercial photography. All Visual Communications students must complete both Apex Studio and an internship.
Freshmen are required to live either on campus or at home. Need-based, academic merit and art scholarships are available. Members of the United Church of Christ or the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) may apply for church scholarships, and dependents of clergy from both churches may apply for clergy dependents scholarships. Missouri residents are encouraged to apply for the Bright Flight scholarship and other state scholarships.
