Scope of Program:
B. A. candidates in the Art program begin their studies with coursework in drawing, 3D design, painting, sculpture, graphic design, ceramics, photography, printmaking and art history, then continue with electives or minor coursework. Art majors may minor in Graphic Design. All students must create a senior show and portfolio.
Graphic Design students focus on drawing, typography, photography, history of graphic design, art history, graphic design seminar and advanced graphic design. All students complete an art internship and create a senior show and portfolio.
Students wishing to major in Art or Graphic Design must pass an art entrance examination in order to be admitted to the program. They must also pass an interim art exam and portfolio review at the end of the second year of study.
Need-based and merit scholarships are available. North Carolina residents are encouraged to apply for North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grants as well as need-based North Carolina State Contractual Grants, North Carolina Student Incentive Grants and North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarships.
