Scope of Program:
Indiana University Kokomo offers several concentrations within its New Media Communication program. All students take the core courses, which include introduction to new media, digital studio, new media theory and senior new media seminar. Students then select a concentration and take specialized courses in that subject area. Available concentrations include Digital Development, Graphic Design, Video Game Design, Web Design and "Generalist," which is a concentration designed by the student.
Informatics students who choose the New Media cognate (a second discipline tied to applied computing, such as biology or fine arts) focus on visual communication, web design, digital media, cyber culture and communications, social informatics, information infrastructure and information representation. All Informatics students create a capstone project or thesis.
Merit and need-based scholarships are available. Indiana residents are encouraged to apply for the ESP and STAR scholarships.
