Scope of Program:
Lindenwood University's Digital Cinema Arts and Interactive Media and Web Design programs are offered through its School of Communications. Students majoring in Digital Cinema Arts concentrate on video production, writing for electronic media, production for television, history of film, fundamentals of Internet, and production and post-production practicum. Either an internship or an applied digital cinematic arts experience is required. Interactive Media and Web Design students focus on media design foundations, desktop publishing, vector graphics, digital imaging, video production, interactive scripting and page layout. A capstone project and either an applied interactive media and web design experience or an internship is required.
Computer and Graphic Art majors must take foundation courses in art, including 2D and 3D design, color theory, drawing and figure drawing. They continue their studies with coursework in art history, desktop publishing, digital imaging, layout, computer art, web design and vector graphics. All students must create a B. F. A. exhibition for presentation during the senior year.
Master's degree candidates focus on art history, research methods, computer art and studio work. M. A. candidates must pass an oral review and create an exhibition and thesis project. M. F. A. candidates must pass a candidacy review after completing 24 credit hours of study. They must also create a thesis exhibition and accompanying thesis paper.
Applicants to the Master's degree programs must submit a portfolio. Need-based, academic merit and art scholarships are available. Missouri residents are encouraged to apply for state scholarships and grants.
