Scope of Program:
Louisiana Tech University's B. F. A. program begins with fundamentals courses in design, color design, 3D design and graphic design software. Students continue with courses in figure drawing, art history, identity systems, print production, communication design imaging, web design and ad campaigns. Students create a senior portfolio. Internships are available. Students may apply for the "French Quarter" study abroad program.
M. F. A. candidates participate in critiques and senior seminars in addition to studio experiences. All students must create a thesis exhibition. Graduate students are welcome to apply for the "French Quarter" study abroad program.
Louisiana Tech's academic calendar is based on 12-week quarters, but course credit is given in semester hours. M. F. A. candidates must submit a résumé and portfolio with their application. Art scholarships are available, as are need-based and merit scholarships. Out-of-state students may apply for tuition waiver scholarships, which reduce tuition to in-state rates.
