70 Camden Street
Rockport, ME 04856
Scope of Program:
Maine Media College offers low-residency M. F. A. and certificate programs. M. F. A. students must attend two "retreats" per year (Wednesday through Sunday; six retreats are required for graduation), spend at least four weeks in residency at the campus and complete mentored projects. Two progress reviews, a penultimate (pre-thesis) project and thesis project and exhibition round out the educational experience. Students focus on multimedia concepts, graphic design, multimedia production, and related topics, although the creative process itself is at the heart of the Maine Media College program.
Professional Certificate students spend more time on campus, completing 30 weeks of study in multimedia concepts, history of media, editing, sound and motion, digital craft and multimedia production. A final project rounds out the experience.
Because Maine Media College is not yet accredited, federal and state financial aid is unavailable. Veterans may use their VA benefits to pay for tuition. Maine Media College is actively pursuing accreditation. Work Study and a limited number of scholarships are available.
A portfolio or demo reel must be submitted with the application. Applicants to the Professional Certificate program must have completed two years of college or have equivalent professional experience.
