Scope of Program:
Metropolitan State College of Denver's Studio Art program offers concentrations in Communication Design and Digital Art. Communication Design students take courses in 2D and 3D design, drawing, digital art and design, art history, color theory, typography and design research. Students participate in internships and create a portfolio. Digital Arts students focus on color theory, art history, 2D and 3D design, drawing, video art, visual thinking, web art and art theory and criticism. Students create a digital art portfolio and put on a thesis exhibition.
Need and merit scholarships are available, particularly for Colorado residents and minority students. Students residing in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington or Wyoming may apply for reduced tuition (150% of in-state tuition) through the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education's Western Undergraduate Exchange program. Colorado residents should apply for the College Opportunity Fund stipend, currently $62 per credit hour.
