Scope of Program:
B. F. A. candidates take foundation courses in drawing, 3D design, painting, life drawing, creative electronic imaging, sculpture and art history. Graphic Design students continue with coursework in typography, photography, creative digital animation, computer-assisted graphic design, printmaking and advanced design. Students must pass a senior review and complete a senior seminar. All students create a senior exhibition.
Students in the Interactive Digital Media program may choose the Art Concentration – Visual Imaging, the New Media Concentration or the Computer Science Concentration. All Interactive Digital Media students complete coursework in design, mass media, web publishing, script programming, digital photography and communications law. Visual Imaging students focus on advanced graphic design, computer-assisted graphic design, painting, letterforms and multimedia for web. All students must create a senior exhibition. New Media students concentrate on media writing, multimedia production, media advertising, journalism practicum and media leadership. An internship is required. Computer Science students take courses in computer programming, data and file structures, web services technology, network fundamentals and database systems.
Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available. Missouri residents are encouraged to apply for state grants and scholarships.
