Scope of Program:
B. F. A. candidates at Shawnee State University must complete core coursework in 2D and 3D design, creative process, art history and digital foundations. Students must pass a sophomore review to continue in their chosen program. Gaming and Simulation Development Arts students focus on drawing, life drawing, small model sculpting, digital imaging, game programming, calculus, animation, inorganic studio and organic studio. All students participate in the Senior Show.
Visualist Design and Interactive Media students concentrate on digital imaging and illustration, digital painting and video and digital 3D design. Design Track students complete coursework in digital publishing, visualist studio, photography and illustration. Interactive Media Track students focus on interactive scripting, interactive media studio and visualist studio. Animation Track Students concentrate on digital 3D animation, scripting for animation, organic and inorganic studio, animation studio and digital dynamics and 3D properties. Students from all three tracks participate in the Senior Show.
Digital Simulation and Gaming Engineering Technology students complete coursework in game programming, computer graphics, 3D graphics, digital foundations, structured programming, real time interactive programming, algorithms, data structures, operating systems, artificial intelligence and calculus. All students complete a senior seminar and create a senior project.
Digital Simulation and Gaming Engineering Technology students must purchase a laptop computer. Need-based and merit scholarships are available. Ohio residents are encouraged to apply for state-sponsored grants and scholarships.
