Scope of Program:
B. A. and B. F. A. candidates in the Art program at Sierra Nevada College begin their studies with core coursework in drawing, visual design, art history, digital darkroom and studio arts. B. F. A. candidates must apply to the major after passing a junior year portfolio review. Digital Arts students then concentrate on computer animation, video practices, character animation, advanced digital darkroom and analog and digital audio production. B. F. A. candidates must create a B. F. A. exhibition.
New Genres students focus on interdisciplinary practices, video art, performance art, time-based art and hybrid display systems. All students create a portfolio. B. F. A. candidates must participate in a senior exhibition.
Digital Arts and Entrepreneurship and Digital Arts and Management students begin their studies with coursework in interdisciplinary studies, service learning, visual design, photography, art history, drawing, video practices and web design. Digital Arts and Entrepreneurship students complete courses in financial accounting, management, economics, marketing, social ventures, global business, business law and financing entrepreneurial ventures. Digital Arts and Management students focus on macroeconomics, business communications, financial accounting, management, leadership in global environments, human relations, global business and business strategies. Students in both programs must complete a capstone project.
Sierra Nevada College accepts the Common Application. Merit and need-based scholarships are available. Ski Team and Snowboard Team athletic scholarships are also available.
