Art students at Southeast Missouri State University begin their studies with foundation courses in drawing, design foundations, 3D foundations, color and figure drawing. Students must pass a foundation review to continue in the program. All art students complete core studio coursework in printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and fiber. 3D Imaging and Animation students focus on art and new technologies, art motion graphics and digital art problems. All students create a portfolio. Graphic Design students concentrate on typography, print production, digital illustration, web design, corporate identity and branding. All students complete a senior project.
Computer and Multimedia Graphics students in the Technology Management program complete coursework in chemistry, physics, engineering technology, industrial safety, programming, statistical process control, vector graphics, graphic user interface design, 3D modeling and animation, interactive multimedia and HD video for multimedia. All students complete an advanced graphics project.
Master's degree candidates focus on special effects, stereoscopic imaging, facilities management, research methods, motion capture technology, virtuality in gaming and quality concepts. All students must complete an applied research project or write a thesis.
Need-based, academic merit and art scholarships are available. Missouri residents are encouraged to apply for state scholarships and grants.
