1. Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas
The Visualization program at Texas A&M University (TAMU) allows students to focus in any area through electives and project-based studios. Housed in the School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts (PVFA), the program has options leading to a BS, MS, or MFA. Other program highlights include study abroad experiences in places such as Germany and Italy; professional internships; interdisciplinary research; and participation in the Annual Career Fair. Graduates of the Visualization programs at TAMU have worked on productions such as Black Panther, Encanto, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, and Coco. 2. University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas
University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) houses several programs for students seeking careers in visual effects. Options include a Film and Media Production MFA (FMP MFA); the Arts and Entertainment Technologies BS (AET BS); a Computer Science BS with a Game Development concentration; and the Radio-Television-Film BA (RTF BA). An RTF minor is also available. With 12 concentrations, students have opportunities to focus in areas from filmmaking to games. Course examples across concentrations include Digital Video Special Effects; Intelligence and Interactive Systems; Video Production; Computer Animation; Interactive Narrative; and Film as Technology. Students can add a Film Studies minor, which includes courses such as Advanced Video Production, and Video Editing and Post-Production. The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) at University of Central Florida (UCF) houses an Emerging Media program with BFA and MFA options. The BFA has an Animation and Visualization track that explores VFX, 2D/3D Animation, Visual Storytelling, and Stop Motion. The MFA has an Animation and Visual Effects track for students seeking advanced roles in the entertainment industry. The Digital Worlds Institute (DW) at University of Florida (UF) houses an interdisciplinary Digital Arts and Sciences (DAS) program with BA (BADAS), MA (MiDAS), and minor options. In addition to combining coursework in visual effects, motion design, and animation, the program features collaborative, project-based learning, professional internships, and access to state-of-the-art production facilities. The BADAS program can be completed online or on campus.
