1. Image Campus, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Image Campus (Image) has been the permanent home of the Global Game Jam since 2011. This vocational training institution is also South America’s first video game school and Unreal Authorized Training Center. For animators, the school provides Higher Technical degrees in Art and Animation for Video Games, and Cartoon Production, as well as an Advanced Technical degree in 3D Animation for Video Games. All students benefit from state-of-the-art production facilities; courses taught by industry professionals; and internship opportunities.
Programs culminate with a final project. Image Campus graduates have been hired as interns or for permanent positions at places such as Disney, Warner Bros., Ubisoft, AMC, and Gizmo Animation Studio.
2. Universidad Nacional de las Artes, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA) provides two paths to study animation. Options include a bachelor's degree in Multimedia Arts and a master's degree in Animation and Video Game Direction and Production. Across programs, students benefit from immersive workshops; access to state-of-the-art production facilities; and internship opportunities. The graduate program is jointly provided through the Department of Audiovisual Arts, the UNA Transdepartmental Area of Multimedia Arts, and the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Córdoba.
Programs culminate with a final project. Graduates are prepared to pursue advanced roles in the entertainment industry, research, and education. Program alumni have been hired at places such as OLGA, Grupo Clarin, and Urban Grupo de Comunicación.
3. La Universidad Siglo 21, Cordoba, Argentina
La Universidad Siglo 21 houses a Digital Design and Animation bachelor's degree program that provides opportunities to work on projects with partners such as Disney, Activision, Pixar, and Sony. Accredited by the Ministerio de Capital Humano, the program highlights opportunities to complete several animation and interactive media projects for the entertainment and games industries; complete an internship; and choose between three locations, with online or in-person options. The program culminates with a final project. Graduates can be found at local and global animation/VFX studios, advertising agencies, game design studios, tech companies, and consumer brands.
4. Universidad del Cine, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Universidad del Cine has an undergraduate Animation Film Direction program that focuses on animation production for film, video games, television, and digital platforms. Upon completion of the program, students may continue on to the graduate degree program in Animation and Multimedia. Graduates are prepared to pursue titles such as Animator, 3D Modeler, Motion Graphics Designer, Concept Artist, and Animation Director. Graduates are prepared to pursue roles at local studios such as Gizmo Animation Studio, Cinesite, Hook Up Animation Studios, and MundoLoco CGI.
5. University of La Punta, La Punta, San Luis, Argentina
University of La Punta (ULP) is home to the Institute of Communication and Art (ICA). Within the ICA is a Digital Design and Video Games program leading to a technical degree. The program explores areas such as 3D animation, programming, video game design and production, visual communication, and digital illustration. Other program highlights include a hybrid delivery format; access to state-of-the-art production facilities; an accelerated format (2.5 years), and professional internships.
