University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UNL) was chartered in 1869. The school serves more than 26,000 students enrolled in hundreds of academic programs across 13 colleges and schools. The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts houses the Johnny Carson School of Theatre & Film. Here, students can earn a BFA in Film and New Media (FNM) designed for students who want concentrated training/education in film and new media production and technology.
The program has eight areas of focus including Computer Animation, Visual Effects, New Media Design, Directing, Producing, Screenwriting, Post-Production, and Film and Digital Video Production. All students have access to the Digital Arts Initiative, which the school says is spearheaded by the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, and is a collaborative effort among faculty from the Department of Art and Art History, the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, and the Glenn Korff School of Music. The Initiative provides interested students from all majors hands-on experience applying current technology to the arts.
Graduates of the BFA in FNM at UNL are prepared to seek careers as Animators, Digital Artists, Cinematographers, Producers, Screenwriters, Production Designers, and many others.
