Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) houses MOME Technology Park (TechPark), which provides workshops, studios, and labs where students can experiment and create works with support from mentors and TechPark experts. MOME also provides several paths to study animation including the Animation BA and MA programs.
The Animation BA is a project-based program that consists of 12 modules. Examples include Business to Design; Media Studies; Elective Subjects; Technology; Research-Development-Innovation (RDI) BA Studies; and Intensive Course Week. In addition, each semester, students will complete an entire production to be included in a final professional portfolio.
The Animation BA program at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design takes three years to complete, full-time. Graduates are prepared to pursue careers as Animators and Designers in animated film production, feature films, television, and game design. Animation BA alumni are also prepared to enter the MOME Animation MA program.
Taught entirely in English, the MA program is part of the MOME Media Institute. Students in this program will explore animation production, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), and animation research and design across nine modules. Examples include Immersive Storytelling; Animation Film; and Research-Development-Innovation (RDI) MA Studies. MA students will also complete an Internship Module, and a Thesis Module.
Other program benefits include opportunities to attend workshops led by leaders in animation and game design; participation in the CEE Animation Forum; and opportunity to present works at Budapest Design Week.
The MOME Animation MA program takes two years to complete, full-time. Graduates are prepared to pursue advanced roles across the animation, games, film, and television industries. Examples of career opportunities include Animation Director, Senior Game Graphics Developer, Art Director, Senior Previsualization Artist, Creative Director, Animation Technical Director, Senior Character Designer, and Effects Technical Director.
Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) dates back to 1880 when the Hungarian Royal National School of Arts and Crafts began training artists. The school serves more than 800 students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs across 18 different areas. MOME also provides programs to help students prepare for entrance into the university.
