1. Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin, Ireland
Institute of Art, Design + Technology (IADT) Dún Laoghaire is the only school of its kind in Ireland with a specific focus on the technological and creative cultural sectors. Within IADT is the Faculty of Film, Art + Creative Technologies, which houses the Animation BA; 3D Animation BA; and the 3D Animation MA programs. Across programs, graduates have been nominated for Oscars; produced award-winning animated TV series; presented films at Sundance; and landed positions at places such as Weta FX, Brown Bag Films, JAM Media, Cartoon Saloon, and Boulder Media.
2. Ballyfermot College of Further Education, Dublin, Ireland
The Animation Department at Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) provides a one-year Animation Drawing Studies certificate; a two-year Classical and Computer Animation Higher National Diploma (HND); and an Animation (Visual Media) BA. Graduates are prepared to pursue leadership roles in the entertainment industry or launch their own studios. BCFE BA alumni have won a total of nine Academy Award nominations, including Richard Baneham and his special effects team for their work on Avatar.
3. Technological University of the Shannon, Clonmel, Co., Tipperary, Ireland
The Clonmel Digital Campus (CDC) at Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is part of the TUS Limerick School of Art and Design. A Toon Boon Centre of Excellence (COE), the CDC houses the BSC programs in Game Art and Design; Digital Animation; and Visual Effects for Film, TV and Animation. All programs have been developed by industry professionals from places such as DNEG, Brown Bag Films, and Screen Scene. Graduates hold titles such as Character Animator, Concept Artist, Animation Director, Texture Artist, Lead Technical Animator, Technical Director, Senior Asset Artist, and Production Manager.
