Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) has several paths to study animation. Undergraduate options include BA degrees in with tracks in Animation and Illustration. At the graduate level, students can earn a master’s in Animation Design. Across programs, students benefit from partnerships with Adobe, Toon Boom, and Wacom. Graduates are prepared to pursue leadership roles in animation, illustration, live-action films, game art and design, visual effects (VFX), television production, advertising, research, and art education.
2. Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Milan and Rome, Italy
Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) has relationships with companies and studios such as Disney, Lego, Novartis, Cisco, Next Media Labs, and 3zero2 Studios. Housed in NABA’s Department of Design and Applied Arts is a three-year Cinema and Animation diploma program. Training includes 2D Animation, screenwriting, 3D animation, stop-motion techniques, and art direction. The program culminates with an industry-ready animated production. Graduates are prepared to pursue titles such as 2D Animator, Character Designer, 3D Animator, Concept Artist, Director, and Creative Producer.
