Noroff Instituttet

Noroff Instituttet (Noroff) is a school of technology and digital media that provides programs leading to a bachelor’s or professional degree. Bachelor’s degree programs take three years to complete. Professional degrees can be completed in one year on a full-time schedule, or two years, part-time. Students in all programs benefit from hands-on training in the classroom and studio; internships; and opportunities to study abroad through Noroff’s international partnerships with schools such as Teesside University (England), AFDA Film School (South Africa), University of South Wales (Wales), Solent University (England), and Deakin University (Australia). 

For students interested in animation, Noroff Instituttet has several programs that provide the skills needed to secure a position in the entertainment, games, and other creative industries. Options include the Bachelor in Interactive Media: Animation or Games, and professional degree programs in 3D Art and Games Technology; 3D Art and Games Technology – Interactive; and 3D Art and Games Technology – Content Creation. 

Students in all programs will take a variety of animation courses. Bachelor’s degree students will focus on designing and animating 3D characters; creating 3D assets and code for both films and games; and working with character design and game environments. 

Students in the 3D Art and Games Technology and 3D Art and Games Technology – Interactive programs will focus on visualization and 3D graphics for VR and AR; creating visual effects; designing animations for advertising; and creating their own games. In addition to these areas, 3D Art and Games Technology – Content Creation students will focus on creating characters and environments for films and games. 

Course examples across programs include Animation; 3D Animation; Design for Interactivity; Procedural Animation; 3D Rigging; Level Design; Technical Direction; Procedural Asset Creation; 3D and Art Fundamentals; Extended Reality; Modeling; Interactive 3D; Game Engine; and Compositing.

The animation and games programs at Noroff Instituttet culminate with a final project and professional portfolio. Graduates are prepared to pursue positions such as Animator, FX Animator, Game Artist, Forensic Animator, Game Designer, Concept Artist, Animation Director, Level Designer, 3D Modeler, Character Designer, Texture Artist, Interactive Media Designer, Environment Artist, and Technical Artist. 

Established in 1987, Noroff Instituttet houses Noroff University College, Noroff Higher Vocational College, and Noroff Accelerate. The school provides more than 25 bachelor’s degree and professional programs to hundreds of students across campuses in four Norwegian cities and online. Noroff Instituttet is accredited by the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT).
