The College of Liberal Arts at University of Nevada Reno (UNR) houses the School of Art-Department of Art, which offers BA and BFA degrees in Art. The UNR School of Engineering-Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a BS in Computer Science. Students in all programs can add the Minor in Digital Interactive Games.

Also offered in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Digital Interactive Games Minor requires 12-15 units of required courses and 6-9 units of additional courses, depending on the major. Non-Computer Science majors have the most course requirements. Examples of course requirements for the Minor include Computer Science I-II, Game Engine Architecture, Fundamentals of Game Design, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Graphics.

Elective options are plentiful and may include courses such as Advanced Computer Game Design, Embedded Games Development, Sound and Image, Advanced Digital Media, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Autonomous Mobile Robots, Seminar on Art and Technology, and Pattern Recognition.

The Minor in Digital Interactive Games alone provides the technical skills needed to create digital games. Graduates can pursue positions at game design studios, interactive design firms, and web design companies, and in industries that utilize AI, HCI, simulations, and virtual reality, among others.
