Rogers State University

The School of Professional Studies at Rogers State University (RSU) houses the Department of Technology and Justice (DTJ). Within the department are several paths to study games. Options include the Information Technology BS with options in Game Design; Software Development and Multimedia; and Esports. Established in 2005, the Game Design option is the first program of its kind in the state of Oklahoma. Other program highlights across options include co-ops and internships; access to state-of-the art production facilities; participation in exhibitions; and study abroad experiences.

Programs culminate with a final project. Works may be showcased online via the RSU Student Game Showcase. DTJ graduates can be found at places such as Google, DraftKings, Amazon, KPMG, Microsoft, TEKsystems, Verizon, Gray Media, Deloitte, PwC, Griffin Media, Oklahoma City Thunder, and FC Tulsa.

Oklahoma City University (OCU) is home to Petree College of Arts and Sciences, which houses the School of Visual and Media Arts (SVMA). Within the school is a Game Design and Animation BA (GDA BA) program that awards a $24,000 scholarship to every accepted student, in addition to academic and merit scholarships ranging from $8,000-$13,000 per year. This STEM-designated program also emphasizes hands-on training through professional internships. Students have interned at places such as VGM Visual Storytelling, Fox, The Journal Record, Bloomberg, and ARTSPACE at Untitled.

Petree College of Arts and Sciences houses an additional option for game designers seeking a technology-focused degree. The STEM-based Computer Science BS (CS BS) allows students to focus in games through electives such as Game Programming; Mobile Development; Practicum in Programming; Graphics; and Object-Oriented Programming. An internship is required, as well as the culminating Senior Capstone. GDA BA students will complete the Digital Portfolio and Self-Branding course, and culminating Senior Capstone and Exhibition to graduate.

Across programs, graduates can be found at places such as Boeing, Rockstar Games, Unity, Dell, IBM, Scientific Games, Northrop Gruman, Gaming Capital Group (GCG), FlightSafety International, KPMG, Nexstar Media Group, CAE, Inc., The Sanctuary Escape, 360 Labs, Green Pastures Studio, Andretti Indoor Karting and Games, Prairie Surf Media, and the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA).
