Faculdade Melies

Faculdade Melies (Melies) provides programs for students seeking careers in animation, games, film, and visual effects. The school also has single courses for students looking for an introduction to 3D character rigging, art history, narratives, and 3D animation. Single courses are free. With partnerships including Copa Studio, Flamma, and Mono Animation, Melies also features networking opportunities; individual mentoring; guest lecturers and speakers; and portfolio development. 

Long programs include 2D Animation; Animation Design; Digital Games; Art for Games; Visual Effects; and Art for Games. Programs are delivered in module format, with opportunities to complete several films or games, including a final industry-ready work. All students will learn and create using Harmony Toon Boom and Adobe Animate. 

Sample modules across programs include 2D Animation; Scenario Development; Art History; Production Design; Game Design; ACE: Shadow of the Phoenix; Team Management; Asset Modeling; Modeling; ACE: Dinosaur’s First Steps; Workflow; Digital Painting; 2D Art; Design History; Programming Fundamentals; Graphic Tools; and Art Direction. 

Graduates of the Animation programs at Faculdade Melies have been hired at animation and game design studios, film studios, creative agencies, and television networks. Program alumni have gone on to become Animators, Art Directors, VFX Artists, Digital Animators, Modelers, Game Artists, Film Producers, and Animation Designers. 

Melies graduates have worked on games and films such as Avengers: Infinity War, Game of Thrones, and The Last of Us Part II.

Faculdade Melies was established by a group of professional artists in 2005. The school opened as Melies School of Cinema, 3D And Animation, taking its name from Georges Méliès—the creator of visual effects in film. Since then, Melies has trained more than 15,000 professionals currently working at studios around the world. Faculdade Melies gained accreditation by MEC in 2014 as Brazil’s first college specializing in animation. The school provides undergraduate and graduate programs on campus and online.
